Training in Victoria provides opportunities to immerse yourself in cultural landscapes, rich and ancient Aboriginal history that dates back tens of thousands of years.

Help make a difference to the health of people living in rural and remote Victoria through a fulfilling Rural Generalist career.

You’ll have opportunities to develop your skills with Advanced Specialised Training (AST) with over 30 accredited training posts across the state, and more than 100 Core Generalist Training (CGT) posts which you can explore below.

Victorian Government GP Grants

In its bid to ensure rural Victorian communities have access to the highest quality healthcare they need and deserve, the Victorian government has launched a $32 million GP grants program to attract Rural Generalists and specialist rural General Practitioners.

The program is offering up to 800 grants of up to $40,000 per successful applicant. The incentive will be paid in three instalments to support training requirements and contribute towards the cost of assessment.

To be eligible, you must:

  • meet the relevant citizenship, qualification, registration, and training requirements
  • Be selected on the ACRRM Fellowship program post November 2022, and started training in Victoria or border towns in 2023
  • Begin training with ACRRM in Victoria and ACRRM approved border towns in 2024 or 2025
  • Be committed to undertake training in Victoria and selected border towns. 

These border towns are eligible only for applicants applying via ACRRM.

Australian Medical Graduates and registrars working within a higher level of rurality (MMM location) will be priortised for funding.
