This organisation provides information about Australian General Practice research. It collates research data and provides a range of support and evaluation resources.

Australian Health Map

Provides comprehensive health statistics for each state and territory, information about where to find health resources like hospitals and community services.

Australian Institute of Health and Welfare

Australian's national agency for health and welfare statistics and information. Contains many reports, discussion papers and a wide range of data collections.

Monash University - School of Rural Health, Information Services and Resources

Provides access to resources that will assist rural health researchers and service providers locate information on rural health research, community / town profiles (Victoria only), education and literature.

Cochrane Library

The Cochrane Library database is free to access for all Australians via the Australasian Cochrane Centre homepage. 


As for access to Medline, most abstract listings are also available through PubMed, a medical article database.

Google Scholar

Google has also just recently launched a new search engine called Google Scholar, that specifically targets academic journals, reports, etc.
