Laidley Rural Generalist Dr Ahamed Mustaq has been selected to attend the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine's (ACRRM) Emerging Leaders Conference in Adelaide from 18–20 October 2026.
Dr Mustaq now calls Laidley home after working across healthcare systems in India, the United Kingdom and Australia.
He recently completed his ACRRM Fellowship with advanced specialised training in emergency medicine, and is passionate about ensuring rural, remote and First Nations communities have access to high-quality healthcare specific to their needs.
“What drives me is the daily reminder that rural and First Nations communities deserve a better level of healthcare access and excellence,” Dr Mustaq says.
“I want to bring a better service to rural communities through technology and collaboration.
“The resilience of these communities, along with the privilege of earning their trust, motivates me to look beyond individual patient care and contribute to broader improvements in rural healthcare. Attending this conference will support me in those ambitions," Dr Mustaq says.
ACRRM President Dr Rod Martin says Dr Mustaq's dedication to innovation and commitment to rural communities makes him an ideal participant in the Emerging Leaders Conference.
