Pre-conference courses

There are two pre-conference courses on offer, held at the same venue for your convenience:

  • Fetal Surveillance Education Program (FSEP)
  • Vacca Steps Skills Workshop

Please note, these courses are not included in the cost of the AST conference but can be purchased in our event registration link, along with your extra night's accommodation.

Ahead of the official AST conference program, RG Obstetricians are invited to attend the RANZCOG FSEP course. The Full Day program is structured to cumulatively build understanding and provides a foundation of uteroplacental function, and the physiology underpinning fetal heart rate control, for all clinicians involved in antenatal and intrapartum care.

Participants will also complete the FSEP MCQ assessment at the end of this session. This is a core education program and is suited to most clinicians requiring education or an update in cardiotocography.

  • Date: Wednesday 20 May 2026
  • Session time: 8:30am - 3:45pm
  • CPD: 6.25 CPD hours (2 Performance review hours and 4.25 Educational Activity hours)
  • Venue: Hunter Valley Rydge's - Semillon Room
  • Spots available: 40
  • Cost: $225
  • Inclusions: E-Learning, 60 MCQ assessment, Certificate, tea/coffee, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea

The workshop is a comprehensive 2-part course, designed to equip clinicians with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills to perform a safe vacuum-assisted delivery.

The program is structured to build theoretical understanding and practical competence over two distinct courses, rather than a single workshop. Participants will develop practical skills using specialized medical manikins under the guidance of a VAD expert, enhancing delivery success and reducing risks for both mother and baby. Participants undergo a skills assessment at the end of the second course. Our low trainer-to-participant ratios ensure enhanced learning by providing dedicated one-to-one Practical Tuition time.

Part 1: The Fundamentals of Safe Vacuum Delivery (Online) - 7 hours

Part 2: The Vacca Steps Skills Workshop (F2F) 4 hours

  • Date: Thursday 21 May 2026
