Dr Brennan became the Principal Medical Adviser for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2020, with 33 years of full-time service in the Australian Army as a medical officer. He is a specialist general practitioner and medical administrator with an interest in professional development. He has been a member of ACRRM’s Continuing Professional Development Committee for over 10 years, the current chair of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrator’s Continuing Professional Development Committee and a member of the Australasian College of Tropical Medicine’s Advisory Board. In 2014 Dr Brennan was made a Member of the Order of Australia for services in health support.
