Katie Hume is the current Chair of the ACRRM Future Generalists Committee.
She is a final-year Doctor of Medicine student at the University of Notre Dame Fremantle with an undergraduate in Medical Imaging.
Katie has completed all her clinical placements through her university’s Rural Clinical School. In 2024, she made the move to the beautiful Kimberley region for a year-long placement in Derby and has since stayed in the region to complete her final year at Broome Hospital. She is intending to complete her internship with the WA Country Health Service.
Katie has been part of the ACRRM Future Generalists Committee since 2023, initially serving as the Western Australia student representative. She aspires to become a Rural Generalist with a strong interest in Indigenous health and rural mental health.
Beyond her work with ACRRM, Katie has served as Vice President of SPINRPHEX, Western Australia's rural health student committee. She has also led several rural outreach sporting initiatives, including establishing the Derby Netball Association Junior Program and facilitating FairGame, an Indigenous after-school sports program, in Broome this year.
