Dr Oliver Wightman was born and raised in Brisbane but was quickly drawn to rural medicine while completing his medical school training in regional and rural Queensland. He is currently a Registrar at Kingaroy Hospital, completing his AST in Obstetrics following initial training in Gympie.
Oliver holds a Graduate Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is completing a Masters in Public Health and Tropical Medicine through James Cook University. He is also the founder of One For Health, a charity that facilitates philanthropy for early-career doctors supporting health equity projects across Australia.
Outside of medicine, Oliver is a passionate Brisbane Lions supporter and a keen runner.
As an early-career registrar, Oliver is excited to join the Committee with a strong focus on advocacy, to help the College better understand and improve the registrar experience across all stages of training - from application through to assessment and fellowship.
