Dr Jessica Morgan, a Rural Generalist registrar from Geraldton, has been named the 2025 Western Australian Registrar of the Year by the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).

Born and raised in Geraldton’s Sunset Beach, Dr Morgan says her roots have been a strong motivator in returning to live and work in her local community and investing in the skills needed to support rural, remote, and First Nations healthcare.

After graduating with Honours from the University of Western Australia in 2014, Dr Morgan worked in Alice Springs before deciding to pursue Fellowship with ACRRM. She has since completed Advanced Skills Training in Emergency Medicine and now divides her time between general practice and the emergency department in Geraldton.

ACRRM President Dr Rod Martin says Dr Morgan’s career reflects the dedication and breadth of skills Rural Generalists bring to rural communities.

“Jessica has shown an unwavering commitment to her hometown and to providing the highest standard of care across general practice, emergency medicine, paediatrics, and First Nations health,” Dr Martin says.

“Her devotion to both her community and her family is at the heart of what makes her an outstanding Rural Generalist registrar and a very deserving recipient of this award.”

Dr Morgan says she enjoys the diversity of Rural Generalist medicine and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of her patients.

“I grew up in Geraldton and always wanted to return to live and work here,” Dr Morgan says.

“What I love most about rural practice is the variety and the chance to make a real difference.

“Being able to serve my community as a Rural Generalist is incredibly rewarding.”
