Dr Carolyn Belonogoff, a Rural Generalist registrar and provisional Senior Medical Officer at Babinda MPHS, has been named the 2025 Queensland Registrar of the Year by the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).

Dr Belonogoff is dedicated to delivering exceptional care for the Babinda community, bringing a calm and compassionate, consultative demeanour to every appointment. Beyond the consultation room, she is a champion for rural generalism, actively driving service improvements and quality initiatives.

A committed educator and mentor, Dr Belonogoff provides enthusiastic supervision and teaching for rotational interns and James Cook University rural placement students. She also serves as a Registrar Liaison Officer for ACRRM, where she shares knowledge generously and supports peer registrars to navigate challenges and succeed in their training.

ACRRM President Dr Rod Martin says Dr Belonogoff exemplifies the leadership, advocacy and patient-centred care that Rural Generalist registrars bring to their communities.

“Carolyn is the kind of clinician every rural town hopes for — skilled, steady under pressure, and deeply invested in her community,” Dr Martin says.

“Her commitment to mentoring students and registrars, improving local services, and providing compassionate care makes her a very deserving recipient of Queensland Registrar of the Year.”
