The Opportunity
Queanbeyan Hospital and Health Service is a 29-bed facility with an eight chair Day Surgery and a Renal Unit. The team provides acute, maternity, renal, community health, dental, allied health service access and an emergency department. The hospital and health service operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with close access to onsite X-ray and pathology.

As a GP VMO, you will provide primary health care and emergency department support to the local community. From diagnosis to treatment you will play an integral role within the local community and use your well-rounded skillset to treat a wide case range from ongoing to urgent with duties including ward rounds, GP Clinic and ED duties. You will be a strong problem solver and extremely versatile in your approach. This is an opportunity to utilise your skills and gain further experience.

There is nursing support and other General Practitioners to help where needed, along with a telehealth service to cover breaks.

Only a 20-minute drive from Canberra CBD, with elegant wineries, historic villages and spectacular wilderness, the Queanbeyan region in Country NSW is a wonderful escape. You’ll enjoy wine tasting in vineyards, explore beautiful heritage, bushwalking, mountain biking and 4WD touring in magnificent national parks.

A gateway to the Snowy Mountains and the nearby national capital, this marvellous region is three hours’ drive southwest from Sydney and less than an hour from seaside Batemans Bay on the NSW South Coast. There are daily trains from Sydney, or you can fly to Canberra Airport and rent a car.

Essential Criteria

  • Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Practitioner
  • Previous experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Rural Medicine an advantage
