Professional development requirements

We’re proud of our comprehensive Professional Development Program (PDP) which sets and upholds high standards that define and govern Australia’s unsupervised general practitioners. Our curriculum and requirements help to ensure you become better-equipped to take on the exciting challenges of rural generalism.

While participating in the College’s PDP is a mandatory requirement in maintaining your Fellowship, registration and participation is available to all of our members as a benefit of membership.

If you would like to participate in the College's PDP, you must first become a member. If you are already a member and would like to register for PDP, please complete the online registration.

Program requirements

There are three professional development categories - Educational activities, Performance review and Outcome measurement.

Activities will be measured in hours rather than points.  You will need to achieve 150 hours per triennium made up of the following:

  • 25% from educational activities
  • 25% from performance review
  • 25% from outcome measurement
  • Remaining 25% can be any of the above

A life support course is required once every triennium (Advanced Life Support for ACRRM Fellows and Basic Life Support for non-Fellows.)

This will also count towards the Educational activities category.

Earning PDP hours

Education providers apply to have their activities accredited by the College and they directly report the College’s member attendances so that members receive their PDP hours.  These activities are added to your PD portfolio automatically.

Activity hours can also be added to your PD portfolio if an activity is not accredited.

Through your PD portfolio, you can:

  • add your activities and receive PDP credit in real time
  • view your current PDP status
  • access practice improvement guidelines and templates
  • enrol in accredited activities
  • download your statement
