Supervisors and Teaching Posts Standards

The ACRRM Vocational Training Program is a four-year integrated program of clinical learning and experience. All training must take place in accredited posts.

The program consists of three stages of learning and experience, each stage has training and each Advanced Specialised Training (AST) discipline has a different set of standards.

Core Clinical Training (CCT)

Training for CCT must be undertaken in a hospital:

Primary Rural and Remote Training (PRRT)

Training for PRRT must be undertaken in a general practice, hospital, community, or other posts accredited by ACRRM against the Primary Rural and Remote Training Standards for Supervisors and Teaching Posts

Guidance on accrediting health services for Primary Rural and Remote Trainingnew

Advanced Specialised Training (AST)  new

Training for AST must be undertaken in a post accredited by ACRRM against these Advanced Specialised Training Standards for Supervisors and Teaching Posts:

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health

Adult Internal Medicine

Emergency Medicine

Mental Health

Paediatrics

Population Health

Remote Medicine

Rural Generalist Surgery

A post accredited by Joint Consultative Committee on Anaesthesia (JCCA)

A post accredited by RANZCOG for the Advanced Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

 

Process for Accreditation

There are three training pathways for FACRRM training; accreditation is conducted in conjunction with the training providers on these pathways:

 

Vocational Preparation Pathway (VPP)

(Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) Program)

Facilities such as general practices, hospitals, AMS, RFDS meeting the above standards and wishing to apply for on-going accreditation as a teaching post for all three stages of training for ACRRM registrars apply through the local Regional Training Provider

Primary Rural and Remote Training Application Form available from the Regional Training Provider

Advanced Specialised Training Application Form 

Posts achieving accreditation on this pathway are able to train registrars on all three ACRRM training pathways.

 

Independent Pathway

Facilities such as general practices, hospitals, AMS, RFDS meeting the above standards and wishing to apply for accreditation to train an individual registrar on the Independent Pathway apply directly to ACRRM.

Posts achieving accreditation are accredited for an individual registrar only. If on-going accreditation is required an application needs to be made through the Regional Training Provider.
