Senior Medical Officer (Remote Reliever)

Senior Medical Services, North West Hospital and Health Service, Julia Creek

An exciting opportunity is currently available for a Senior Medical Officer to join our dedicated team of professionals delivering excellence in healthcare to the residents of Julia Creek.

About the role

As the sole doctor, your primary role will be providing clinical care for the community. As such, you will be seeing patients in three clinical settings: firstly in a primary care clinic; secondly in the Emergency Department; and thirdly as in-patients on the ward. Use your specialised expertise to make a real difference and discover the added variety and scope offered working in a rural and remote location. Great work-life balance and a generous remuneration package are just two of the many benefits on offer.

The Senior Medical Officer is responsible to provide clinical care to patients and clinically manage, on a day-to-day basis, the associated multidisciplinary patient care team to ensure the provision of appropriate patient care, delivered to the highest professional and ethical standards. This is a permanent part-time position, 40 hours per fortnight with a flexible roster available including 8 days on 20 days off. The successful candidate will be required to participate in the “on call” roster for the care of remote facility patients.

  • Current registration with or/eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • The applicant will hold:
    • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP)
    • Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice (FARGP)
    • Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM)
