Rural and Remote Medical Education Online (RRMEO) is a world first, developed by ACRRM, and is the first online learning platform designed and built specifically for rural doctors. It is a suite of powerful electronic tools that assists doctors, ACRRM and associated medical education providers, in the management of information, administration and professional education requirements.
RRMEO is easily accessible from any location via your Internet browser with no need to download any additional plug-ins or applications *. RRMEO is a powerful tool for organisations and is simple to learn. It is intuitive, and requires only basic computer knowledge.
How RRMEO benefits members
Educational Inventory
Members can search an ever-expanding database of educational events (both online and face to face) and accredited training posts and educational resources (such as validated websites and downloadable protocols).
Learning Planner
Members can record their educational activities in their personalised ‘Learning Planner’. This can include activities undertaken on RRMEO and external activities. Support files can also be uploaded to the planner. At the end of each educational program, members simply submit their Learning Planner for approval by credentialing organisation(s).
Online Modules
RRMEO features a growing selection of interactive modules: online case studies, in-depth content and discussion boards on a divers range of topics, such as Dermatology (Tele-Derm), Radiology (Radiology Online), Toxinology (Tele-Tox), Palliative Care, Rural Paediatrics. Some modules have full-time specialist moderators (e.g. Dr Jim Muir on Tele-Derm). These specialists post cases for general discussion and are available to consult with RRMEO users on particular cases they submit. To see a list of the modules available on RRMEO please click here.
How does RRMEO benefit Medical Education Providers?
RRMEO allows organisations (eg Regional Training Providers) to manage their membership in a number of ways. RRMEO allows you to:
- enter details about training posts, educational events, online training and clinical attachments;
- accept or reject potential users joining the system under their organisations auspices;
- assign supervisors to students and registrars;
- set mandatory requirements for specific educational programs;
- report on membership within programs and enrolments in activities, and electronically communicate with members as grouped within programs and activities;
- electronically conduct forums, surveys and quizzes and download results to external spreadsheets; and
- publish full interactive courses online.
How do I join?
ACRRM members can access RRMEO immediately at the RRMEO website: www.rrmeo.com. You will be prompted to provide information about yourself, and your intended education program (eg professional development or registrar training). This is a once only requirement, which helps tailor the system to prioritise the tools and information that you are most likely to use.
