The PESCI Process

The PESCI Process

The PESCI will begin with a review of the documentation you provide. The panel will then proceed to assess your level of skills, knowledge, and experience to determine your suitability for the position for which you are seeking registration. The PESCI will be based on rating criteria for each of the following:

  • clinical competence in medical knowledge
  • clinical skills
  • ethics and professional attitudes for safe and effective clinical practice
  • communication skills, and
  • cultural awareness.

A PESCI is position specific and state/territory specific. A PESCI conducted in one state/territory is not automatically accepted by another state/territory. You should speak with the local AHPRA office in the first instance to determine if a further PESCI is required should you change state/territory.
