Networking Events

The Bonded Support Program has been hosting networking nights around Australia.

Networking nights include dinner, a presentation from a guest speaker and an opportunity to meet and network with fellow BMP and MRBS students, early career doctors and of course, the BSP team - Sean & Michelle.

Griffith University
The BSP held the first Networking Dinner for 2012 on the Griffith University Gold Coast campus. It was a great start to the year and we all enjoyed a great meal, a presenation from the Rural Health Club and a wonderful insight from a local Doctor who has spent many years working as a GP in rural and remote Australia - not to mention a very exciting journey working on a ship to Antarctica.

University of Newcastle
Held in the beautiful venue of Customs House by the water in Newcastle, we had a great night with a local doctor and students from all years at the University of Newcastle - what a fun and friendly group you all are!! A big thank you to the Rural Health Club for informing us on the events and member benefits available to students at the University of Newcastle.

University of New England
The BSP team flew into Armidale on a spectacular autumn day in early May. We welcomed a small group of UNE students and enjoyed the company of University Faculty, local doctor Rod Martin and had a fantastic meal in a restaurant with a VERY unusual name! Our group included a few BSP students who are also JFPP scholars and it was great to hear some wonderful feedback from them.  Thanks to the Rural Health Club reps for attending also and for your continued help
in organising nights like these!

University of Notre Dame Sydney
Thank you Notre Dame Sydney BSP participants - what a fantastic night at the East Village Hotel in Darlinghurst. The food, the atmosphere and the very entertaining, informative and moving stories from Dr Steve Markowskei - reservist in the Royal Australian Army made it a memorable night. Steve described himself as "ACRRM's oldest registrar!" Not at all Steve... Read an Event Report from UNDS Student Megan Lee here

University of Queensland
With a venue like the iconic Regatta Hotel located on the Brisbane River, it was bound to be a fun night. We welcomed students and faculty to the networking dinner and enjoyed the company of a diverse group of local and international students and Doctors. The UQ BSP participants were fortunate enough to meet and hear a presentation from Dr Jim Hudson who shared his experiences working as a rural doctor, working in East Timor and the life changing experiences from working in remote areas, the "front line" of medicine.

University of Sydney
With a group of 70 attending our USYD Networking Dinner it was bound to be big night! Held in a beautiful gallery space of the Mission Bar, we had guests from the Rural Health Club who presented all the upcoming opportunities on offer through being a member of the Club. We welcomed a guest from Rural Health Workforce Australia, along with Dr Steve Markowskei who gave a wonderful presentation and heart-warming insight into being a Doctor working in Afghanistan, Indonesia and back home in Sydney.
