When you join ACRRM, you join a national network of medical practitioners who have a special dedication to expanding and refining their knowledge and skills.
The College's rigorous approach to setting and maintaining standards for rural and remote medical practice is complemented by a range of member support measures designed to ensure members have opportunities to participate in the life of the College and further their capabilities.
Established in the belief that all Australians deserve quality medical care - regardless of how small or remote their community - the College has evolved from a noble ideal of a few rural doctors to a national college with a professional network of approximately 2,500 members.
The practice of rural and remote medicine is more than a special set of advanced skills; it is an ethos. The ideals of confident, competent doctors delivering quality medical care are underpinned by the College's range of member benefits.
The status of Ordinary Member of ACRRM is reserved for qualified medical practitioners, in general or specialist practice. Most are working in, or are associated with, rural or remote communities. The College also welcomes applications from practitioners working in metropolitan or major regional centres, particularly those working to support and improve rural medicine and health care. There are nine different types of Ordinary membership:
Although Registrar Membership is a category of 'Ordinary Membership' a different application form is required. You can download the form from the Vocational Training page or complete the online form.

Associate Membership recognises and welcomes the contributions of a broad range of individuals and organisations to the health of people living in rural and remote communities. Individuals - such as allied health professionals, practice managers, medical students, and health students - who frequently share the care of patients are invited to apply for Associate Membership.
This category also acknowledges the interest that commercial and not-for-profit organisations have in supporting medical practitioners' work in rural and remote Australia. There are currently three types of Associate Membership:
