Independent Pathway to Fellowship

Eligibility criteria

To qualify for entry into the Independent Pathway Training Program for the 2012 intake, applicants must be eligible in all of the following components.

1.   Residency / Citizenship

  • Hold Australian citizenship or have Australian temporary residency (skilled migration or business visas – no student visas) or permanent residency status.

2.   Medical Qualifications / Medical Registration

  • Be a graduate from an accredited Australian or New Zealand Medical School who is registered to practice with the Medical Board of Australia; or
  • Be an International Medical Graduate who has gained full registration with the Medical Board of Australia; or
  • Be an International Medical Graduate who has limited medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia and has met the current requirements for the Standard Pathway which are:
    • Pass or exemption in IELTS (English Language Test);
    • Pass the AMC MCQ and have
    • Successfully completed a Pre-Employment Structured Clinical Interview (PESCI)

3.   Postgraduate Hospital Experience

  • Have completed at least one year of postgraduate hospital experience (i.e. equivalent to an Australian internship year) and
  • I have completed at least one year of medical practice in Australia.
