Q I
would like to apply for Competent Authority Pathway for General Practice. What is it?
A
ACRRM’s Competent Authority pathway
leads to the AMC Certificate and General Registration.
The Competent Authority Pathway enables
IMG’s wishing to work in General Practice in Australia to undergo a fair and
accredited process to achieve general registration via a combination of
workplace based assessments and supervisor reports.
Q How do I enrol
for the Competent Authority Pathway for General Practice?
A
First you must hold the Advanced
Standing Certificate, issued by the AMC (Australian Medical
Council). You can find out more about this on their website here: http://www.amc.org.au/index.php/img/ca
Before enrolling into the CA Pathway for General Practice, you
must meet all registration requirements, including successfully completing a
PESCI (Pre-employment Structured Clinical Interview). ACRRM conducts these for
Queensland and more information can be found here: https://www.acrrm.org.au/img-pesci-assessment
and here: http://www.medicalboard.gov.au/Registration/International-Medical-Graduates/Standard-Pathway.aspx
Once
you have achieved limited registration and you can enrol in the CA Pathway for
General Practice with ACRRM. Forms can be found on our website here: https://www.acrrm.org.au/competent-authority-pathway-for-general-practice#flowchart
Q What happens
after I have enrolled in the CA pathway for General Practice?
A
Once you have enrolled, you will be
asked to provide a supervised practice plan that will be signed off by our IMG
Medical Educator. Once this has been signed off, your 12 months of supervised
practice will commence.
Q What
are the requirements of a doctor on the CA pathway for General Practice?
A
During the 12 months of supervised practice, you will be
required to complete the following:
- Supervised Practice Plan
- 3 month supervisor report
- Formative MSF (multi source
feedback) at 5 months
- 6 month supervisor report
- Summative MSF (multi source
feedback) completed by end of 12 months
- Final supervisor report (at
12 months)
