Really ‘out there’: the world’s most remote medical job?

The British territory of Tristan da Cunha is 1700 miles west of Cape Town in the South Atlantic Ocean. Claiming (with some justification) to be the ‘remotest inhabited spot on the face of the globe’, this little speck in the ocean is looking to replace its sole medical officer.
